Get ready for the 105^th Candy Dance September 28 to 29.  This two-day event boasts over 400 arts and crafts, activity, and food vendors, plus a Saturday night Dinner Dance.  It draws thousands of people to Genoa and attendees can visit booths from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The event began back in 1919 when the town of Genoa needed electric powered street lights but lacked a way of paying for them. Lillian Virgin Finnegan, the daughter of a prominent judge, suggested holding a dinner dance. But not just any dance — it would have homemade candy passed around during the dance.

Later in 1974, the town established the Arts and Crafts Faire that is held at The Kinsey House, the location of the original candy dance.
