Las Vegas
If you’re looking to do something artsy that’s unique around Nevada, try visiting Seven Magic Mountains. This large-scale public art installation was created by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone and features seven towering stacks reaching a height of 30 to 55 feet of brightly colored boulders.
Located about 10 miles south of the Las Vegas strip, near Jean Roach Dry Lakes Recreation area and Hwy 15, the attraction was unveiled in May 2016. There is no charge to visit the artificially painted rocks set against the natural desert landscape creating a visually striking and surreal experience.
It can get very warm, so bring plenty of water and bring your camera for a photo op!
Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
Just watch for the “7 Magic Mountains” sign. You can take the Speed Vegas exit or the Jean airport exit. Since you’re driving out that far, you can head south to the nearby Jean Roach Dry Lakes Recreation area where 4-wheeling takes place; the Jean airport that has various activities; or head north a few miles to Speed Vegas for some car-racing excitement!
